The Lite-up Texas program is available to families that have a
low household income. It was put in place to give assistance in paying the electricity bill of those who

Am I Qualified to receive a Lite-up Texas Benefit?

You are qualified for discount if you currently participate in one of these government assistance programs:

  • Medicaid
  • Food Stamps (or SNAP)

For those that are not yet receiving benefits from either of these two programs,
there is an income based qualification. If your household’s total income does not exceed 125% of the poverty
level as defined by the federal government, you should apply today.
If you aren’t receiving Medicaid or Food Stamps benefits but believe that you are qualified because of
your income, you may enroll by calling Lite-up Texas at 1-866-454-8387 to request that an application be
sent to you. Or, you can
print an application here.
To receive the Lite-Up Texas benefit, you must live in a deregulated area of Texas where have the power to
your own Retail Electric Provider (REP).
